Roof Campaign

Avery UMC has been blessed with a beautiful building and location for 60 years. Regular and planned financial gifts have kept the building in good shape, enabling good ministry to continue. But, after continued small leaks above the fellowship hall, we were informed this spring that our roof needed to be replaced.

Nicolella Roofing worked from July 9-18 to replace all the shingles, and we now have a beautiful new roof that should last for years and decades to come! However, during the work, Nicolella informed us that the original installation of parts of the roof was not standard to current building practices. As a result, it was causing some of the problems that led to our need to replace the roof, and they recommended that we remove and replace the original boards. Unfortunately, that recommendation came with an additional cost of $7,000.

But thanks to your generosity and that of others, we have already raised $42,285 in pledges or donations! That’s over $7,000 more than our fundraising goal of $35,000! Through your gifts, God provided for the additional work and expense! Praise the Lord!

I am grateful today for this church, and the ability to make this necessary major repair to our building through a simple appeal to all of you. If you made a pledge to give over a period of 3 years, please continue to fulfill those pledges as they will still be needed.

As we continue to fulfill our commitments to the roof, we can again turn our attention back to funding the ongoing ministry of the church, knowing that we have a good roof over our head!

Avery In Action
When you give to Avery in Action (AIA), your money is given by Avery UMC to local and global missions.  The missions supported by your gifts in Jan. – March 2018 are:

  1. Adoption Connection of PA. AIA funds will be used towards a mission of the United Methodist Women to assemble backpacks to give to children going into foster homes.
  2. Washington County Habitat for Humanity, which builds safe, affordable homes for families in need. Habitat families work on their own home and buy the home at cost of construction (around $90,000).

Other Giving Opportunities:

Trinity West/Trinity North Emergency Preparedness Kits for Classrooms

Food Bank: Donations are always accepted at the church. Drop off donations in the basket in the welcome area.
