“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations.” ~Matthew 28:19
We support the partnership between United Methodists in Western Pennsylvania and Zimbabwe, seeking to work together to develop Christian leaders, engage in ministry with the poor, improve global health, and create new places of worship for new people of faith. Our pastor is very involved in this partnership, and we contribute regularly to Imagine No Malaria, a campaign to end malaria globally.
Giving beyond the local church
Avery UMC has recently made contributions to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Imagine No Malaria, UNICEF, Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY, and Heifer International. We insist on being aware of global issues, and to love our neighbors no matter how far away they live from Washington, PA.
Youth Mission Trip
Each summer, our youth group goes on a week-long mission trip with U.M. Army to help those in need.
Volunteers in Mission
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) is a grassroots movement within The United Methodist Church designed to provide an official channel whereby Christians, both lay and clergy, may offer their skills and talents for Christian service at home and around the world on short term assignments at their own expense. Their work includes construction and renewing of mission facilities, teaching, witnessing, conducting medical clinics, conducting Bible study or Bible School for children, and serving in disaster relief efforts around the world.
