“Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who will receive good things from my Father. Inherit the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world began. I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you gave me clothes to wear. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you visited me.’” ~ Matthew 25:34-36
As we grow in faith through participation in the church, we become nourished and equipped for mission and service in the world, starting with our local community. Avery serves the Washington area in the following ways. Contact the office for details about how you can get involved.
Faith in Action – Avery UMC is a proud supporter of this program, and several of our members volunteer to help seniors and people with disabilities with everyday tasks.
Love in a Backpack Thursdays, 11 am-Noon
We are partnering with Trinity West & Washington Salvation Army to help children in our own community who go home hungry on the weekends. On Thursdays throughout the school year, we pack nutritious food here at Avery to be sent home with qualifying children at Trinity West. Packing is from 11 am-Noon. Sign up in the welcome area to volunteer.
Volunteers must have clearances on file with the church. This is a Washington Salvation Army policy and we are required to abide by it. If you do not have clearances, come early to volunteer and we’ll have you cleared to help that same day.
