“Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who will receive good things from my Father. Inherit the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world began. I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you gave me clothes to wear. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you visited me.’” ~ Matthew 25:34-36
As we grow in faith through participation in the church, we become nourished and equipped for mission and service in the world, starting with our local community. Avery serves the Washington area in the following ways. Contact the office for details about how you can get involved.
Trinity West Tutoring Program is on Mondays and Wednesdays at the school. We support this program financially and with volunteer tutors. New tutors are always welcome!
Faith in Action – Avery UMC is a proud supporter of this program, and several of our members volunteer to help seniors and people with disabilities with everyday tasks.
Love in a Backpack – NEW to Avery UMC!
Each Thursday during the school year, we go across the street to Trinity West Elementary to pack nutritious food for kids to take home over the weekend. Why? Because some kids don’t get enough to eat at home, and proper nutrition helps to improve classroom learning and performance. Packing only takes about an hour on Thursday mornings. Sign up by calling the church office.
