Children are a vital part of Avery United Methodist Church. We take seriously our responsibility to help children to grow in the knowledge and love of God, and to equip parents or guardians with necessary tools for spiritual development at home. With Trinity West Elementary school located directly across the street from us, our ministry intentionally focuses on families with elementary aged children. However, we seek to include children of all ages and abilities in our ministry.
NEW! Kids Worship!
Pastor Erik has partnered with multiple pastors and kids across Western PA (and beyond) to offer weekly worship videos. Each week, join us for 15-20 minutes as we sing, read, and learn! Check out the videos on our YouTube channel
Children's Church (Preschool-5th Grade) – Sundays at 10:45 am (currently suspended due to COVID-19)
Broken up into 2 classes: Pre-K, and Elementary.
Children begin in worship, and are dismissed after the children’s moments.
Pick up your children after worship. On the first Sunday of the month, children will return to worship to participate in Holy Communion.
All adult volunteers have background checks and child abuse clearances on file in the church office.
Starting April 19, we will switch to a new Sunday Schedule with the launch of our new UNITE! Contemporary Worship Service. Children's Church will move to Sundays at 9:30 am as Children's Sunday School. Most other details will remain the same.
Nursery (currently suspended due to COVID-19)
We have a staffed nursery downstairs, available during worship for young children who are unable to sit through the service or attend Children's Church.
We strive to be a welcoming environment for children who need to participate in a different way. As a smaller congregation, we have the ability and experience in structuring ministry specifically for each child, and commit to providing this for every family who attends. If your child has anything that our staff or volunteers need to be aware of, please let us know!
Avery UMC strives to reduce the risk of abuse of children and youth in its building and all its ministries. Click here to read our full policy.
